Preserve Your Smile with Top-notch Dental Crown Services

Dental Crown services is the process of restoration that covers or caps a tooth, restoring the tooth to its natural shape and size while increasing the strength and improving the tooth’s overall appearance.

With so many options in cosmetic dentistry, it’s difficult to determine which treatment plan is right for you. Treatment plans can include Veneers, Dental Bridges, Implants, and more. Booking an appointment with one of our dentists is the first step to exploring all available options and what best suits your needs.

Why Opt for Dental Crown Services?

If you have missing teeth you’re looking to replace, dental implants or bridges may be best for you. If you have chipped, damaged or broken teeth, dental crowns may be the answer. Dental crowns, as indicated by their name, are essentially a crown, or cap for the tooth. Crowns are used as both a means of restorative dentistry, to protect teeth from future damage, as well as a means of cosmetic dentistry, used to restore your smile back to its natural beauty.

Unlike dental implants, crown procedures don’t require tooth removal or a root canal, your existing teeth stay in place and the existing tooth structure is used as a base for the crown. A dental crown fits over your existing tooth and aids in the aesthetics of your smile while protecting the tooth from future chip or breaks.

Dental Crown Services: Achieving a Perfect Smile

The procedure for dental crown services is fairly simple and painless. Our Chagger Dental professionals prepare the tooth, and make room for the crown to fit in place over the tooth. Once the tooth has been filed, a mold, or dental impressions, of the crown tooth and neighboring teeth are taken using a special impression material. The mold is taken to ensure your crown is custom fit to your mouth to avoid any ill-fittings and hassles that accompany poor crown placement. The mold is then used as a template for your crown and is filled with the restorative material of your choice.

There are many different materials, or different types of crowns to choose from when considering dental crowns to repair a damaged tooth: metal crowns, porcelain crowns, ceramic crowns, stainless steel or a combination of materials can all be used. Speak to Chagger Dental dentists for Dental Crown services today to determine which filling material is best suited to your oral health needs.

Historically, the mold of the crown and neighboring teeth is set to a dental laboratory where they use the material selected to construct the permanent crown. While waiting for the permanent crown to be complete, dentists would fit your mouth with a temporary crown. The temporary crown is fit over the prepared tooth to protect the underlying tooth from any damage, and to avoid shifting of opposing teeth while waiting. This process would require multiple dental visits: one for the mold and a temporary fitting and another for to receive the final crown.

Temporary Crowns

In addition to the extra visits, the process of outsourcing the creation of the crown to a dental laboratory resulted in the patient having to be fit with a temporary crown. As temporary crowns are not permanent, they are not prepared with the same special care that goes into the creation of permanent crowns. As a result, temporary crowns do not always match the teeth perfectly. Once the permanent crown is placed, the tooth colour will match the rest of you smile and feel natural in your mouth due to high level of care and precision put into making the permanent crown.

Cerec 3D Crowns

Thankfully, with ever evolving dental technology, Chagger Dental can fit you with a permanent crown in a single visit by utilizing our in-house CADCAM systems, Cerec 3D. For more information on this cutting-edge technology see our ‘Services’ tab. The Cerec 3D allows a Chagger Dental professional to custom fit you with a crown within hours. The mold is taken, the material selected, and the machine does the rest, ensuring your crown is ready, placed comfortably in your mouth and matches the natural color and polish of your existing teeth; the crown will be undetectable amongst your natural teeth. Once the crown is placed in the mouth, your dentist checks to ensure it fits properly in your mouth, matches the surrounding teeth, doesn’t interfere with your bite, or cause any discomfort. Once both you and your dentist are satisfied with the fit of the crown, it is then cemented into place, and you’re free to go with a beautiful smile restored within hours.

Whatever type of dental crown you choose, whether its a gold crown, stainless steel crown, porcelain or ceramic crown to match your natural teeth, we at Chagger Dental are here to ensure we satisfy all your oral care needs. How much does a Dental Crown Cost?

The average dental crown cost in Ontario ranges between $900 to $1500 per tooth. The average dental crown cost varies depending on many factors. The material of the crown, the position of the piece and its size influence the cost of the restoration. The dentist’s experience and local rates also impact the price. For example, an experienced dentist in a region with a high standard of living is likely to charge more than a new dentist in an area where the cost of living is lower.
